Jill Maidment, Director of Performance Improvement Consultancy Natural Talent, is delighted to announce that she is working in partnership with renowned TV Rugby Analyst and highly successful Coach, Sean Holley.  Sean will co-deliver Natural Talent’s new High Performance Leadership Development Programme, either at clients premises or offsite.  The Leadership modules are based on recent research regarding the key challenges facing business leaders and are suitable for any organisation looking to develop its senior managers and teams.

Sean’s expertise will complement Jill’s 16 years of international learning and development experience at executive level, using his engaging style in a series of highly interactive workshops. Both Coaches will confront real life individual, team and business issues in order to create inspirational leaders in a more open, trusting, results-driven culture and will be available for 1:1 Face to Face Executive Coaching and Mentoring following the Programme to ensure ongoing development and success.

Sean brings his extensive Coaching and Mentoring experience to the Leadership Programme as one of the longest serving and most successful Welsh Regional Coaches at Ospreys Rugby, in addition to Coaching many All Blacks, Springboks, British Lions, Wales Internationals and Grand Slam winners, including Shane Williams, Gavin Henson, Adam Jones, Ryan Jones, Justin Marshall, Jerry Collins, and Mike Phillips.  Whilst Head Coach at Bristol Rugby his team finished top of the English Championship in each of his 3 seasons there, culminating in promotion to the Premiership in 2016.

Sean also brings his experience of developing and delivering courses on Sports Science added to sharing real-life anecdotes, tips and techniques for high performance from on and off the pitch.

Sean says ‘Jill often talks and writes about the strong correlation between the skills in Rugby and Business.  During the Leadership Programme I’ll be able to align the learning with the skills, attitudes, competencies and behaviours required to be an elite Rugby star and successful sports Coach, including respect, teamwork, planning, culture, focus, targets, drive.’

If you are looking for a traditional, theory-based, box ticking Leadership Programme, Jill says this is not for you; ‘We will be asking executives some searching questions such as: In the current precarious VUCA business climate do your leaders need to step up?  Are they struggling to manage high workloads and to lead change?  Are your leaders working in silos?  Are they constantly fire-fighting instead of delivering the strategic objectives?  If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions then this Programme would benefit your leaders.’

The High Performance Leadership Development Programme is offered in flexible modules:

Although an autocratic leadership style is no longer relevant in today’s complex workplace, Jill believes that the right levels of assertiveness and confidence to create executive presence and impact are key in today’s business world.  Sean will walk leaders through the tools and techniques used by professional Rugby players in order to have strong self-belief and confidence.

Jill states: ‘Nowadays leaders are faced with ever more complex work challenges, from the threat of a cyber-attack to the impact of the slowdown in the Chinese economy.  As the working environment becomes ever more challenging the ability to cope with stress, pressure and change is key to a leader’s health and well-being.  Sean will introduce tools and techniques used with elite sportsmen to develop and maintain mental toughness.

Sean adds ‘I will discuss Creative Visualization techniques used in Rugby to achieve successful outcomes, such as mentally preparing for a range of different scenarios, planning what you will say, how you may react and how to address possible objections, then analysing the results to alter and improve your approach next time.’

Sean will work through how to unite a diverse team to create a true team spirit with real collaboration, cooperation, ownership and accountability: putting the team, not the individuals, first but still being the best you can be as an individual to develop a feeling and culture that ‘we’re all in this together’ with no place for dissent, nepotism, or egos.

Jill says: ‘An objective expressed by 92% of CEOs recently surveyed by Harvard Business Review was to develop more of a Coaching style of Leadership as opposed to a more traditional authoritative ‘telling’ style.’    With recent statistics suggesting that 68% of the workforce is actively disengaged, Sean will guide leaders through the most effective techniques to empower their team members to improve employee engagement and retention, freeing up leaders time from being ‘task focused’ to create space to think and act more strategically.

Sean is renowned for his expert ‘man in the [OB] truck’ analysis of Rugby games: ‘In the workplace having the right tools and techniques to analyse facts and situations, to take decisions, make the tough calls and see the wider picture are crucial’ says Jill.

She adds: ‘Sean brings a refreshing, engaging and robust approach to leadership development along with some amusing and relevant anecdotes and – according to availability – some of his previous elite players.’
